It's no secret that I love the wellness scene in Toronto. I truly love the places I frequent and wanted to start a directory to share them with the world! Be sure to bookmark this tab as I'll be continuously adding to it as new places continue to pop up.
CONTRAST THERAPY & RECOVERY:
OTHERSHIP
425 Adelaide St W, Toronto, ON M5V 3C1
110 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON M5S 2W7
Othership changed my life, full stop. I was introduced to Othership during the pandemic- and I am actually Otherships first Co-pilot! Ever since partaking in that first breathwork journey I have been HOOKED and when they opened up their IRL ship- they changed the game in Toronto. Every class is so thoughtfully designed and the entire Othership experience is awe-inducing.
Favourite Classes:
Rose Bud Thorn (Typically Friday's at 7PM, it always sells out so book ahead!)
Journey Through the Elements
Inner Power (Go to Madi Warnock’s class, you will not regret it!)
Also, do NOT leave without a pack of Othership incense and a wildcard Barbet. Thank me later.
If you’ve never been to Othership, I’d love to share a complimentary journey.
You can also save 11% off intro 2 week, intro 3 pack, single drop-in, 5, 10, 25, and 50 class packs. Can be used once per person, applicable at the Toronto locations. Use the code AUTUMN
ACTIVE REMEDY CLUB
171 E Liberty St #113, Toronto, ON M6K 3P6
Located in Liberty Village, ARC is a sauna a social hub for recovery. What makes ARC different than the other sauna spots in town is that it also features a remedy hub with a range of holistic treatments like chiro, physio, RMT, acupuncture, cupping, compression therapy, red light therapy and IV drip. They have a variety of classes surrounding mindset, energy and mobility. If Emma is teaching, definitely go to her class! I also love Tanya Kim & Leila's classes.
TROVE:
A few spots I haven't had the chance to check out yet but are on my radar are NUD, ALTER and WELLNESS HAUS. A friend of mine has been to Wellness Haus and she mentioned that it's private (and you can control the music, which is pretty cool!)
GUIDED STRETCH & MASSAGE
STRETCHLAB
I have been going to Stretchlab for over a year and it is hands down one of my FAVOURITE wellness practices. Stretchlab offers one on one assisted stretching in 25 or 50 minute sessions. The stretches increase range of motion and flexibility, reduce muscle and joint pain and reduce stress. I leave every session feeling relaxed and connected to my body. Book with Sammy, & tell him I sent ya!
(PS, There's a Stretchlab located on Adelaide street so I love doing a full wellness stack when I have a free afternoon. You can stack a session at Trove, Othership, Barre3, or Majesty's Pleasure with a stretch as they're all located around the same block. Stop in at Ace Hotel for a coffee or grab a chocolate seasalt cookie from Impact.)
OXYGEN YOGA:
Stretchlab is my weekly non negotiable, and Oxygen in Liberty is my favourite personal stretching practice. They host an (almost) nightly candlelight deep stretch and it is scrumptious. The classes are held in a dark infrared room by candlelight with soothing music, breathwork and the deeeeeeep stretches. The first half of the class focuses on relaxing seated stretches and flows—while the second half of the stretch focuses on holding postures for up to 5 minutes, really allowing your body to melt in.
JESSICA LANDON RMT:
The best massage I've ever had was with Jessica. She is so talented at what she does and has such an intuitive nature about her. With over ten years of experience she KNOWS the body. She truly takes the time to get to know her clients and personalize her practice for each individual.
TERRA
I recently experienced a facial therapy massage at Terra in Yorkville.
Their facial therapy treatment is so much more than just a facial, it’s a 60 minute relaxing massage performed by a RMT that includes targeted relief for the neck, face and jaw muscles. (Not to mention, the studio is absolutely gorgeous. The custom blue sink in the washroom is chef's kiss).
This facial massage includes a variety of techniques including gua sha, cupping, and an intra-oral component that targets muscles from the inside out.
There's lots of great wellness spots in Yorkville so if you're wanting another wellness stack you could combine a visit to Terra with an appointment at Majesty's Pleasure, a session at Othership, or a sweat session at Barry's, Jay Bird or Sweat and Tonic.
TOUCH:
Located on King Street West, Touch massage bar is like stepping into a Tulum dream. The space features a variety of massage options from seated to full body ranging from 25 minutes to 80. They also have a cafe and little gift shop. I've been multiple times and always leave floating on a cloud.
MOVEMENT:
STRONG PILATES:
Strong Pilates has two locations in the city, one in Little Italy and the other in Liberty Village. The classes are low impact, high intensity and cardio infused for a full body burn. (Seriously). There are a variety of classes available ranging from pilates only to classes that use just the reformer- to classes that also include a rower or bike. These classes make me angry, in the best way LOL. They are definitely challenging and there is nothing like a pilates burn (or the endorphins you get completing a class.) If you can do a class with Gillian I recommend it!
FAIRGROUNDS RACKET CLUB:
Pickleball girlie, who dis. I can be easily swayed to try new things if the design is nice (lol).. and Fairgrounds did not miss. This is *not your typical racket club*. The courts are a mix of pickle and paddle with multiple locations across the city. The branding is on point, the courts are colourful and they even have cute merch. Ryan and I recently rallied at one of the courts and fell in love.
